The protagonist of Ugo la Pietra’s ex-voto is always the heart.
Unlike many ex-votos, especially those of thanksgiving, where the subjects are many and offered to Jesus, to the Saints, or to the Virgin by grace received, in those of La Pietra the heart is always the center of everything, a volcano heart that makes a multitude of things explode, a mind that creates heart, a home heart that protects a heart that repairs soul.
