LA FORMA DELLA TERRA
Geografia della ceramica contemporanea in Italia

Curated by Simone Ciglia
Menegaz Foundation, Castelbasso (TE)
July 25 – August 30, 2020

La forma della terra. Geografia della ceramica contemporanea in Italia offers a mapping of the contemporary possibilities of ceramics, oriented on the national territory. The exhibition is conceived as a journey through some of the main production centers connected to this technique, which largely follow the rich historical tradition: from Faenza, which has known more than any other question the challenge of contemporaneity, in Albisola Superiore and Albissola Marina, Castellamonte (TO), Nove (VI), Pesaro, Deruta, Castelli (TE), of which the city of Rome and Milan is added. Without any pretense of exhaustiveness, each location is represented by works present in the last fifteen years by authors associated with a different diversification, a testimony by contemporary art towards this archaic matter., Like the works of Mario Airò, Salvatore Arancio , Stefano Arienti, Bertozzi & Casoni, Enrico Castellani, Enzo Cucchi, Matteo Fato, Flavio Favelli, Alberto Garutti, Liam Gillick, Piero Golia, Ugo La Pietra, Felice Levini, Emiliano Maggi, Eva Marisaldi, Gino Marotta, Mathieu Mercier, Matteo Nasini , Adrian Paci, Mimmo Paladino, Luca Maria Patella, Giovanni Termini, Luca Trevisani, Vedovamazzei, Luca Vitone.
As part of the exhibition, the new work Modeling the water by Mario Airò, created in the ceramic workshops of Castelli in 2019-2020, will be included for the first time to the Italian public.
