Ugo La Pietra – Istruzioni per abitare la città
From 24 March 2018 to 30 September 2018
Curated by Italo Tomassoni, Giacinto Di Pietrantonio and Giancarlo Partenzi
Istruzioni per abitare la città. Opere e ricerche nell’ambiente urbano dal 1969 al 2017 (Instructions for living in the city. Works and research in the urban environment from 1969 to 2017) is the title of the new exhibition dedicated to Ugo La Pietra that CIAC Italian Contemporary Art Center in Foligno hosts from 24 March to 30 September.
Curated by Italo Tomassoni, Giacinto Di Pietrantonio e Giancarlo Partenzi, the exhibition retraces the multiple areas of investigation of La Pietra – which Italo Tomassoni defines as “a continuum of form and time” – through groups and themes with his most significant works and documents related to the interior of urban space.
All the work of La Pietra is always linked to the places – territorial art and art for the social – in which the artworks are placed. At the opening of the exhibition two projects of urban installations are presented: monuments dedicated to one of the excellences of the city of Foligno: the realization of the “First Printed Edition of the Divine Comedy by Dante”. Twelve areas of research are preceded by their comprehension by “Instructions” that give the visitor the key to interpreting the works.
Through a hundred two-dimensional works, some video pieces, three-dimensional objects and an installation, the exhibition develops in a path full of visual suggestions.
